Andrew Marr speaks about ‘The Diamond Queen’ at the Tower of London

We were thrilled to host Andrew Marr recently at the Tower of London. He came to speak about his new book ‘The Diamond Queen: Elizabeth II and Her People’ as part of the adult learning programme of events.

As anticipated, Marr delighted us with his exceptional talent as a speaker and presented an interesting analysis of how The Queen has assumed her role and cleverly shaped the oldest national institution into something that is both contemporary and relevant. As Marr commented, he sought to represent the role of the Queen and the monarchy on their own terms, drawing on his own exclusive interviews with members of the royal family and access as a reporter into the daily lives of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, he brings the story of The Queen and the Royal Family to life.

He paints a vivid picture of a family, who have experienced many ups and downs, through the sometimes ruthless lens of the media, and how they have adapted and developed as a result of these experiences.
